How to make a facebook fan page

Facebook is a fabulous tool for spreading the word about your business - even more so because it's free! You can create any number of vehicles on facebook, such as a profile or a group. One of the coolest things, though, is the fan page!

Once a fan page gets going it can spread like wildfire.

Punctuality

My family has always been a punctual oddity - exactly on time in a culture that seems to glorify being "fashionably late."

I've wondered whether it's a southern thing. I usually count on my guests being approximately fifteen minutes to half an hour late. When arriving at a party, I've more than once surprised my host by being on time while she was still in a bathrobe.

These social nuances are things that simply need to be dealt with gracefully. But the protocol is entirely different in the business world.

Do not leave people hanging. It's that simple, and it's that rude. When arriving at an interview, be on time. This is as important for the interviewer as the interviewee. Punctuality is a simple courtesy, and perpetual lateness gives the impression that you don't give a rat's bum about the other person's time.

So there.

Rant over.

Some Cool News

Just a neat bit of news -

I've been selected to participate in a weight loss documentary. The nutrition principles are exactly those that I espouse at Rapunzel Locks: a reliance on meat and vegetables, and eschewing refined carbohydrates.

The filming starts in late October, and I'll be keeping you updated on my progress.

EXCITING!!!!

Hair Growth Myths

True or false: Trimming hair frequently makes it grow faster.

Answer: false. Hair grows from the roots, and its growth rate is influenced by a mix of genetics and overall health and nutrition. What trimming doesdo is remove split ends, which prevents the damage from moving farther up the hair shaft and turning healthy hair unhealthy. Protect your hair by treating it delicately - no yanking or tugging, protecting it from heat, and using plenty of conditioner (and cold water!).

True or false: Massaging your scalp stimulates hair growth.

Answer: false. I'm a big proponent of massaging your scalp. It increases circulation, which leads to a nutrition boost and better overall health for your hair. It decreases stress, which can have negative effects on the hair. It helps to distributed sebum, and it also fights dandruff and pimples on the scalp. But it won't make hair grow faster. See above: growth rate is determined by genetics and overall health.
